Mallorie is our most recent bride from Monroe, Louisiana and she chose to have her bridal session at The Mansion at Red Hill. The mansion was a new location for us and new locations mean adventure! There really is something special about shooting at a location for the first time. Whenever it happens, everything seems to be bursting with potential and possibility. The morning before Mallorie’s session we absolutely could not wait. The day seemed to take for ever, but finally it was time to leave. (Or rather: “After much anticipation, with full hearts and clear eyes, and guided by the siren’s call of our inner muse, we took to the road on an adventure of pure artistic discovery and creativity.” Whichever you prefer.) *Hint – It’s the second one. Because epic adventures deserve an epic beginning.
We met Mallorie and her mother on a Tuesday afternoon in April. The weather was perfect – despite having driven through several patches of rain en route. However, a little splash of rain before a shoot adds a little something to the atmosphere and it worked out beautifully. Our only regret is that the “golden hour” doesn’t quite last long enough to take advantage of all the locations. The Mansion at Red Hill features a fully colonnaded front porch, a gazebo and pond, gorgeous views, flowery and fragrant patios, an epic balcony . . . there is almost too much to list. The master bath even has a tub built into the floor that is a good five foot deep. Seriously. Go see it.
Mallorie looked stunning in her wedding dress and the pics of our literature loving Louisiana bride turned out fairly well if we don’t say so ourselves. Of course, as any artist can attest, the better your source material the better your art – regardless of your medium. Anyway, check out the pics and let us know what you think! We love hearing from our loyal readers!
Interested in booking/visiting The Mansion at Red Hill?
The mansion itself is located just off of I-20 and only slightly north of Delhi, Louisiana. It operates as a bed and breakfast and is available as a venue for weddings, retreats, corporate events, and (obviously) private, individual photo sessions. Visit their website at mansionatredhill.com for more information on everything they offer their guests. As a side note, we were fortunate enough to actually meet the owner while we were shooting Mallorie’s session and she was very sweet. She gave us a personal tour of several of the home’s features and filled us in on a little bit of its history as well. She also went the extra mile to make sure that everything we needed was open and available to us. We would definitely love to photography her property again and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
